Board of Assessors · Meeting of September 8, 2026

Halifax Assessors backed a single property tax rate for FY2027, declining optional residential, open space, and small commercial exemptions. Chair Robert Mullen and member Holly Merry voted unanimously to recommend a rate of $13.46 per $1,000 assessed value to the Board of Selectmen. In executive session, the Board unanimously approved 10 property tax exemptions: four senior, one senior/surviving spouse/minor, and five veteran, while denying one veteran exemption.

The Board also modified administrative procedures, voting to physically sign future warrants and commitments rather than using the signature stamp except during weekly excise and exemption closeouts.
