Halifax Board of Health selects Tighe & Bond for independent landfill review. Chair Pamela Engstrom and Vice Chair Candice Greene voted unanimously to hire the engineering firm, which already works with the Halifax Landfill, to assess remediation plans for Marilyn's Landing. The board sought independent evaluation of both the current remediation plan and potential alternatives amid resident concerns about contaminated soil imports and health impacts.
Selectman Tom Pratt urged the town to prioritize long-term environmental protection over economic considerations related to tipping fees and corporate donations.
