Halifax Board of Health postponed a decision on the Marilyn's Landing landfill corrective action project, deferring it to allow additional time for public review following testimony from an independent environmental engineer. The engineer's assessment concluded that proposed soil for corrective action posed no threat to public health or environment, though residents raised concerns about imported soil volume, dust monitoring, and slope stability. The board approved plan reviewer Kayla Smith, authorized opening five town beaches for 2026, and approved 20 licenses and permits including food trucks, outdoor events, body art, waste haulers, and septic installers.
The board also ratified three residential septic permits.
