Government Study Committee advances five governance articles for Town Meeting

HALIFAX — Government Study Committee proposes five governance changes for March Town Meeting ballot. Committee Chair Thomas Pratt is preparing articles to restructure the Town Clerk position, Treasurer Collector position, and Water Department, plus rename the Board of Selectmen to Selectboard. The articles were submitted for legal review.
Changes to elected versus appointed positions will not take effect until after current office holders complete their terms. Board of Selectmen will review February 24; Finance Committee February 17.
