Halifax approves $1.5 million tax override and position changes

Halifax Board of Selectmen approves $1.5 million override. The Board unanimously approved a $1.5 million tax override question for the town election, along with three ballot questions to change the Town Clerk, Treasurer Collector, and Highway Surveyor positions from elected to appointed, said Chair Thomas Pratt, who advocated for splitting the override into separate buckets for police, fire, and government operations versus schools. Selectmen cited the town's lack of MBTA compliance as justification for the additional revenue.
The Board also approved $3.3 million in warrant payments and designated April as Motorcycle Awareness Month.
