Holmes Public Library approves summer hours and community garden

Board of Library Trustees · Meeting of April 6, 2026

HALIFAX — Holmes Public Library Board approves expanded summer hours and community garden. Director Dylan Benoit proposed the changes after analyzing patron usage data showing low Saturday attendance during summer months. The board unanimously voted to extend Thursday hours until 8 p.m. from June 22 and to close the library one Wednesday monthly for staff meetings starting in May.

The board also unanimously approved a community garden using donated materials, aligned with the "Plant a Seed, Read" summer reading theme. A $15,000 grant application for weatherization improvements is pending a decision by month's end.
