Trustees approve business casual dress code in contentious vote

Board of Library Trustees · Meeting of March 10, 2026

Halifax library trustees relax dress code in 4-1 vote, extend director's hybrid work. The Board of Library Trustees voted 4-1 to allow business casual attire including jeans and sneakers for staff, with Trustee Susan Vogt dissenting. Director Dylan Benoit's hybrid work arrangement was unanimously extended through the end of the fiscal year, and trustees approved $185.26 to replace books damaged by winter weather.

Library leadership is pursuing grants up to $15,000 to fund roof repairs from ice-dam damage.
