Board of Selectmen · Meeting of October 13, 2026

Halifax Board of Selectmen set a January 12 special town meeting and admitted an open meeting law violation. The board voted 3-0 to schedule the meeting for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2027, timing it around free-cash certification. Chairman Thomas Pratt acknowledged the board failed to list litigation details and agenda-posting times at its September 22 meeting, saying "as the chair, I have to own that," and directed legal counsel to respond to the complainant.

Selectmen also approved, 3-0, a one-hour nonpartisan "vote early" table on town land near the library after requiring organizers to notify the Republican Town Committee, appointed Nicholas Clark as a new police patrol officer, and approved a $10 annual increase to curbside trash fees, raising the base rate to $450 a year.
