HALIFAX — The Halifax Select Board approved a contract naming Darleen Sullivan interim town administrator, effective Aug. 31 through June 30, 2027. The board, in a unanimous vote Tuesday, also ratified three-year labor contracts with Local 239 and Local 459 of the Massachusetts Coalition of Police, covering patrolmen and sergeants from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029. Select Board member Jonathan Selig floated merging the Holidays in Halifax and Halifax Fireworks committees into a single "Halifax Celebrates Committee," with Executive Assistant Pamela McSherry assigned to research the committees' charges ahead of a fall special town meeting article.

The board also appointed Gene Gallant to the Halifax Cultural Council and opted, without a vote, to keep the Fourth Avenue boat ramp lock in place through Labor Day, revisiting resident-access alternatives in March 2027.
