Halifax panel approves tight tank, nursery trailer
Conservation · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Halifax Conservation Commission clears Ocean Avenue septic tank and a nursery trailer, closes two Amanda's Way files. The panel unanimously approved a Notice of Intent for a 2,500-gallon tight tank at 17 and 17A Ocean Avenue, presented by engineer Tom Morris of Zenith Consulting Engineers, who said the small lot could not fit a conventional septic system near the nearby pond. A separate unanimous vote issued a negative determination letting a Plymouth Street nursery owner install a trailer for bathroom and office space, with a commission staffer noting, "he just would like to see something in writing," referring to Board of Health confirmation.
The commission formally withdrew two long-pending Amanda's Way duplex applications without prejudice, approving a certificate of compliance for Building 6. It also cleared compliance certificates for 231 Thompson Street and 553 Monponsett Street, closed a stormwater permit at 539 Plymouth Street, continued a peer review at 16 Old Summit Street to September 22 pending a neighbor's signature, and approved $150 in Express Newspaper legal-ad invoices.
