Planning Board · Meeting of August 20, 2026
HALIFAX — The Halifax Planning Board granted Walmart a 60-day extension on its site plan review for a grocery-pickup expansion at 295 Plymouth Street. Civil engineer Greg Devona of Polar Engineering told the board the project would move pickup parking from 13 spaces to 45 on the building's opposite side, requiring a 6,115-square-foot addition and dropping total parking to 601 spaces, 34 below the required 635. The board pushed its decision deadline to October 30, 2026, continued the hearing to September 17, and voted to set up a $3,000 escrow account for peer engineering review.
Devona said the change could cut grocery-order fulfillment "to about one hour" from roughly four hours. Members also postponed a letter from resident Jake Okerfelt alleging changed property use at 285 Holmes Street to their September 3 meeting; Okerfelt called the dispute "five years of a nightmare."
