HALIFAX — The Halifax Conservation Commission voted 3-0 to forward a proposed 20.63-acre conservation restriction east of Monponsett Street to the Select Board and town counsel. Scott Myers of Oxbow Associates Inc. said the land, split into parcels of 16.77 and 3.86 acres, would mitigate impacts to a state-listed rare species tied to a planned contractor-condo rental project, under a state formula requiring "one and a half times the impact area" be preserved. Chair John Guiod noted the town would not own the land but would hold and monitor the restriction if it accepts the role; Wildlands Trust was discussed as a backup holder.

Separately, the commission postponed moving alternate member Steve Goodman to full membership after staff found no record of a completed Select Board appointment or oath of office, continuing the matter to August 25. The board also cleared negative determinations for tree removal at 413 Plymouth Street and a trailer replacement at 78 Redwood Drive, and approved a stormwater permit for 59 Paradise Lane.
