Halifax Select Board Votes 2-0 to Enter Executive Session on Officer Dismissal

Halifax Select Board enters executive session to consider dismissing a public officer. The board met Tuesday morning, August 11, in a standalone session called for the sole purpose of voting to close its doors under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 38, Section 21A1. Chair Tom Pratt and Selectman Jonathan Selig voted 2-0 to enter executive session; Selectman Bill Smith, listed as attending via Zoom, could not be confirmed present and his vote was not recorded.

Pratt stated before the vote that the board would not return to open session, leaving the identity of the individual under review and the outcome of the deliberation undisclosed. The board had a separate regular meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. the same evening.
