Halifax Select Board Votes 3-0 to Appoint Darlene Sullivan Interim Town Administrator
Select Board · Meeting of August 20, 2026
Halifax Select Board unanimously appoints interim town administrator after single public interview. The three-member board voted 3-0 Thursday to appoint Darlene Sullivan, a former Norwell town administrator with more than 20 years of municipal experience, as interim town administrator pending contract negotiations. Chair Tom Pratt called Sullivan's resume "the most extensive and impressive in municipal work" he had seen in six years on the board.
Sullivan, who previously served as finance director, assistant town administrator, and town administrator in Norwell, said she would target a September 1 start date and commit full-time hours through June 30, 2027. She outlined plans to conduct a four-to-five-year budget history review in her first month, prepare for a potential November special town meeting, and meet individually with all department heads within two weeks. The board entered executive session immediately after the vote to begin contract negotiations.
