Halifax Board of Health Approves Plymouth Street Septic Variances, Animal Inspector Nomination

HALIFAX — March 18, 2026 — Halifax Board of Health approves septic variances and nominates animal inspector in a six-minute meeting. The three-member board — Chair Pamela Engstrom, Co-Chair Candice Greene, and Clerk David Hatch — voted unanimously on every item March 18, including local upgrade approvals reducing state-required 400-foot surface-water-supply setbacks to 360 feet and 353 feet for septic components at 151 and 151A Plymouth Street. The board also nominated Sonya Silva as Halifax Inspector of Animals for the May 1, 2026, through April 30, 2027, term, approved five operating permits for food, pool, and septic businesses, and cleared roughly $2,966 in invoices and grant payments across four accounts, including $1,456 to dispatch coordinator Sandra Abban and $672 to intern Jalen Moore.
