Halifax tables septic variance after runoff concerns
Board of Health · Meeting of September 30, 2026
Halifax Board of Health pauses septic variance at 19 Wamsutta Avenue over drainage fears. Health Agent Robert Buker told the board the repair design met the state's "maximum feasible compliance" standard for tight lots, but abutter Katherine Shaughnessy warned, "That's too close. I mean, how are you going to bound it up higher than my house?" Buker said he would arrange a site visit with Shaughnessy and design engineer Pat Ferreira before the board votes, likely at its October 21 meeting.
The board separately approved an $18,062.50 final payment to AE Wood Trucking Corp. for a completed septic job on Third Avenue, a $583.33 nursing services payment, and ratified disposal permits for six properties, including the site of the town's new senior center.
