Halifax Planning Board Re-elects Milius Chair, Orders Enforcement Letter on Holmes Street

HALIFAX -- May 21, 2026, Halifax Planning Board reorganizes, votes to pursue enforcement at disputed Holmes Street property. The board re-elected Thomas Milius as Chair and Bruce Gannon as Vice Chair, each by a 4-1 vote, with Amy True dissenting on both, before unanimously naming newly elected member Jamie Walsh as Clerk. The meeting's longest discussion came when resident Jake Okerfelt told the board that conditions attached to a 2024 site plan approval at 285 Holmes Street, including cessation of outdoor vehicle storage, disabling of rear lighting, and Conservation Commission sign-off, have gone unenforced for roughly 18 months, during which he said he sent "over two dozen emails" to the building inspector with "zero response." The board voted unanimously to have Gannon and Walsh draft a specific, itemized enforcement letter to the building commissioner, with copies to the Board of Selectmen and a request for a legal review. The board also voted unanimously to request a joint meeting with the Board of Selectmen to define the role of the recently appointed Town Planner, a position True said was created without Finance Committee input, Wage and Personnel review, or consultation with the Planning Board itself.
