HALIFAX -- June 11, 2026, Silver Lake School Committee reorganizes, hires new principal, and approves $83,000 athletic training contract. The committee unanimously elected Gordon Lawson as Chair and Amy Fordbright as Vice Chair at its June 11 meeting, and voted to expand Jason Frazier's role to legislative and municipal liaison in recognition of his work with the three member towns. The committee approved Amanda Richardson as the district's new integrated preschool principal, beginning July 1, and authorized a renewed athletic training contract with Mass General Brigham at $83,000, up from a $75,000 budget, with the $8,000 differential drawn from athletic revolving funds after MGB reduced its initial ask of $88,000. The committee also voted to seek bids on a failed middle school auditorium rooftop HVAC unit currently estimated at $585,000, drawing from approximately $700,000 in the district's new capital stabilization fund, and approved full implementation of the Laker Block support-period schedule beginning in 2026-27 after 97 percent of surveyed students backed the program. Frazier warned that all three member towns, Halifax, Kingston, and Plympton, are likely to face override votes in the coming year, noting Kingston drew down $800,000 of stabilization funds to balance this year's budget, leaving roughly $500,000 remaining.
